SEW-EURODRIVE, a global market leader in drive and automation technology, is accelerating its sustainability strategy through a technological innovation in the field of the circular economy. In cooperation with the specialist Pyrox bv ( Belgium ), the company is implementing a highly advanced process for the recovery of industrial raw materials.
The core of the investment is a special Metox furnace. Through a controlled thermal treatment (pyrolysis), insulating materials such as varnishes and resins are converted into powder. This process makes it possible to recycle high-quality metallic components—particularly copper and steel—from used electric motors without any loss of quality and to return them to the production cycle.
“With this technology, we transform end-of-life products into valuable sources of raw materials for new drive solutions,” explains SEW-EURODRIVE. The project underscores the commitment of the family-owned company, founded in 1931, to combine economic efficiency with ecological responsibility and to firmly anchor the circular approach in global industry.
